Evaluation of Animated Videos

Evaluation:

The task was to complete a human animation with around 120 photos to make it a constant video. We were asked to do this task due to how our assignment is to do a channel ident in which by doing different animations it gives ideas on what to do for the assignment.
In the making of the video I think that the idea of the animation went well due to how it was very different to others shown and showed some creativity by trying to include all of our group in the making. Another thing that went well was the images taken. I think this because none of the images that were taken weren’t blurry in which was a good thing because of how we did not have to worry about going out and taking more images due to not having the camera in focus. Another thing that well for our group is how well we worked together. This is a bonus when making a film/video because of how we agreed easily on the idea and when there was a mishap or something that could be changed, we all listened to one another and improved on the making.

Although, there was a couple of pieces on our video that we could’ve improved on such as how we edited it. This is due to how we had taken a couple of images by mistake and forgot to delete them in which they got added in to our video and did make the video lose its place for a couple of seconds.  Another thing we could’ve improved was taking a few more images of the ending in which would’ve made the video more interesting such as the bottle on the wet sign going for a little longer instead of stopping suddenly.
In the making of our inanimate objects video I think that the idea of the film went really well. Due to how I and my partner struggled to find an idea, we came up with the idea by how we had playing cards and a stuffed animal nearby in which we got the idea of the cat playing solitaire by itself. Another thing that went well was the way that we presented the video. By this I mean by how we made it continuous and how if we repeated something with the toy we made sure it was repeated throughout for example, when the toy would move the next three cards over, it would be on the pile and then would be on the card that would’ve been just flipped. Another thing that went well for the video is how well I and my partner worked together. I believe this because of how we agreed on the idea and also if there was something wrong we would sort it out together instead of one going off on their own and doing it themselves in which I believe went really well for the video due to how we also worked well together when we edited it as we agreed quickly on what song and how it should be edited.

Although, what I think could’ve been improved was the idea of the video. I think this because I and my partner did spend a fair amount of time on deciding a theme for our video in which we had to rush our images being taken. Another thing that I think we could’ve improved on was our camera angles. I think this because I believe that we could’ve taken more images with a different angle instead of a bird’s eye view to how it seems quite boring and simple and doesn’t interest the viewer a lot, in which I mean by taking some close up shots, worm’s eye view in which would’ve made the film more interesting.

In the making of our “Lego of me” production, I think that my partners and I worked really well in which was a good thing for the video. I think this because whilst making the Lego models, we had a laugh with each other and did not criticise each other for our drawings or for our designs of the models. Another thing that went well for the video was how we took the photos. I think this because none of the photos taken were blurry and I also liked the camera angle in which showed the models clearly and the mouths clearly in the image. The last thing that I thought went successful for the project was how we put it all together. I think this because of how when putting the images together it fit together perfectly and also went well with the type of music that we chose.

Although, what we could’ve improved on was the type of shots that we used. I think this because of how we had a continuous loop of one shot type in which we could’ve made it a little bit more interesting by having different shot types instead of just one. Another thing that I think we could’ve improved on was by having more images of the models speaking to each other instead of only a few shots. I think this because of how there was not a lot of images of the mouths in which was the main aim of the video instead of only focusing on the Lego models.

For my esting I will either be using human animation or Lego animation. This is because of how using humans it is easier to control and keep a constant loop going instead of something going wrong in the making in which is also a good thing because in case something goes wrong, it is easier to get the human animation re made compared to inanimate or Lego animation. Although I may use Lego animation due to how it looks quite funky to use and also makes it look a little bit more professional and makes it look similar to the esting’s adverts themselves in which is a key aim to make.
